This 20-Year-Old Cobbler Created His Own Business Model Restoring Beat-Up Sneakers

Chicago’s own Joshua Marin is an up-and-coming craftsman, who, like his father and grandfather before him, carved out a niche in the noble trade of shoe repair. Known in his community as the “teen cobbler,” Marin’s expertise is sneaker touch-ups — Air Jordans in particular. Although inheriting the skill from his paternal predecessors, the artist succeeded in modernizing his mastery — incorporating sneaker culture into his work. And now, with three Fix Your Kicks outposts to his name, the Chi-town native is as much an esteemed entrepreneur as he is a shoe technician.
