Nike Shares a Star-Studded Lineup Ahead of 2018's Air Max Day
Another year of walking on air.
This year’s Air Max Day is quickly approaching and Nike has revealed what it’s been cooking up to follow last year’s celebration. The Swoosh will be going into its vault in addition to introducing new silhouettes leading up to its annual commemoration. Following a few previews via social media and additional influencers such as Skepta, Nike will combine two game-changing models in the Tn and VaporMax. The Air Max Tn’s upper is fused with the flexible sole unit of the VaporMax to create a light ride for the wearer. Starting today, limited units of Nike’s VaporMax Plus will be available via Nike’s SNKRS and Nike SNEAKRS in Europe which will be followed by a wider release on January 25.
In addition, Nike will revisit the early ’90s to welcome back the Air Max 180. Making its debut in 1992, the sneaker houses 180 degrees of visible air which allows direct contact between its cushioning technology and the pavement. As an homage to the groundbreaking silhouette, its OG “Ultramarine” iteration will make a return on February 2.
Staying in the ’90s, Nike will also revisit its Air Max 93 model which outshines the Air Max 180 model thanks to exposing 270 degrees of air. In addition, a neoprene collar was added for increased comfort and easy entry/exit. This model will also see a resurgence this year as it’ll launch on February 2 in its white, teal and black color scheme.
The recently revealed Air Max 270 will also help bring in the Air Max Day commemoration with new colorways. The new silhouette is the first Air Max sneaker specifically designed for lifestyle. It sees an exaggerated heel bag standing at 32mm making it the tallest on an Air Max sneaker to date. New iterations can be expected to launch on March 2 with select colorways being available in youth sizing.
The Nike Air VaporMax 97, Nike VaporMax Flyknit 2.0 and Nike Air Max 1/97 “Vote Forward” SW will also be a part of the drops leading up to this year’s Air Max Day on March 26.
