Netflix Teases a Devasted World in New Scandinavian Thriller 'The Rain'

Netflix teases a world that has been met with devastation in the trailer for its new series The Rain. In its first endeavor in producing content from Denmark, the streaming giant brought on Danish director Jannik Tai Mosholt — of the renowned Borgen — to co-create and showrun the project.

The series follows two young siblings left parentless six years after a Scandinavian-centered virus wiped out the majority of humanity. Banding together with a group of precocious survivors, the ensemble traverse across a derelict planet in search of answers, a better life and the siblings’ father. With humanity mostly gone, they’re left to struggle with their own selves, “love, jealousy, coming of age and every problem they thought they’d left behind.”
