Drake was the most streamed artist in 2017, collecting more 6 billion in one year, according to reports from BuzzAngle Music. The next closest artist was Future with 4.2 billion streams.

Spotify’s reports, which came out during the first week of last December, actually say singer Ed Sheeran was the most streamed artist in 2017. Sheeran collected 6.3 billion streams in total, with “Shape of You” receiving 1.4 billion plays alone.

Apple Music reported last month that Drake’s More Life was the most streamed album of 2017. The new reports, however, say Ed Sheeran’s Divide was the top album, with 2,645,600 total project consumption units.

Hip-Hop/Rap was the top genre in terms of total song consumption, with Rock close behind. In terms of how listeners consume music, streaming numbers saw tremendous growth for the third consecutive year. Record streaming numbers led to a 12.8% rise in music consumption. Audio stream consumption increased by 50.3% o a record 377 billion streams, 127 billion more than in 2016. Album sales and song sales continued to decline.
