'It' Director Andy Muschietti Wants to Take on Another Stephen King Classic
“But if we do it, we have to do it justice…”

In a recent discussion with EW, director Andy Muschietti and his sister, producer Barbara Muschietti who are hot off the success of It have expressed their desire to adapt another Stephen King classic. Pet Sematary is the next film they’d like to breathe new life into after wrapping up the tale of Pennywise in the upcoming second chapter.
The novel was previously adapted into a 1989 film following young parents who move in next to a busy country road and a woodland burial ground, where the dead rise again. The film was a hit that sparked a resurgence of King adaptations, akin to what It has done now. “My affection for Pet Sematary will go on until I die,” Andy Muschietti tells EW.
“I will always dream about the possibility of making a movie…I really hope we can do it. But if we do it, we have to do it justice, like we did with It,” Barbara Muschietti says. “The versions we read in the past years, the scripts we’ve read, have not been, in our opinion, representative of the book.”
According to Stephen King’s film agency, Paramount Pictures still holds the film rights to the property. Would you want to see It‘s director take another spin at a King novel? Share your thoughts below.
