Eliud Kipchoge isn’t the only renowned marathon runner looking to break the coveted two-hour marathon barrier in Berlin this weekend. Like the Nike-sponsored runner, fellow Kenyan Wilson Kipsang will look to do the same for adidas while rocking a special rendition of adi’s adizero Sub2. Crafted specifically for the marathon, the latest take on the shoe once again pairs a single-layer upper with BOOST Lite cushioning — the Three Stripes’ lightest-ever foam — and a Continental rubber outsole. This time around, however, the kicks adopt a clean black and white look to go with a special graphic treatment for the midsole. Said Kipsang of the kicks:
The adidas adizero Sub2 has transformed my race day form. Its light, responsive structure, combined with incredible grip and BOOST Light helps me run at maximum efficiency, so I have more energy and power to sprint during the run, even in the final stages of the race. It means a lot to me to compete in this shoe, which is the best I’ve ever experienced.
The limited-edition Sub2 will be rocked by the likes of Wilson Kipsang, Patrick Makau, and Felix Kandie while consumers have two options for scoring a pair: they can prove their ability to run a marathon in under two hours and fifty minutes or compete in group A in Berlin this weekend to win one of 25 available pairs at the Berlin Marathon Expo’s adizero Sub 2 Studio.
