The Next 'Final Fantasy' Brawler 'Dissidia NT' Heads to PS4 in January
The next ‘Dissidia’ finally has an official release date.
The next installment in the Final Fantasy brawler series, Dissidia, finally has an official release date for PlayStation 4 and features the franchise’s updated team-based mechanics in its announcement trailer. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a 2015 arcade game now coming to PS4 and the follow-up to its predecessors Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. Like the games before it, NT follows classic heroes and villains from the acclaimed RPG series Final Fantasy together in epic and strategic battles.
Square Enix has announced that Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will be released January 30, 2018, featuring 3-on-3 team battles, online and offline gameplay, as well as over 20 iconic characters to choose from alongside familiar summons like Ifrit, Shiva, and Bahamut. The franchise’s unique “bravery combat system” will also make a return, which allows the fighter to maintain the RPG elements Final Fantasy is known for.
Also noteworthy is the inclusion of Team Ninja, makers of the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises involvement with developing the title. Adding a studio known for creating fighters is speculated to help ensure tighter brawling mechanics than Dissidia’s predecessors.
Square Enix has already announced an “Ultimate Collector’s Edition” that comes with a 21cm tall bust of the first Final Fantasy‘s stock hero alongside a soundtrack, 80-page artbook and season pass for six more characters after launch. There’s also a Limited Edition Steelbook edition of the game that includes some extra artwork.
