'Magic: The Gathering' Announces 'FINAL FANTASY' Collab
The two worlds are set to collide next summer.
Wizards of the Coast has been rapidly expanding the Magic: The Gathering universe across recent years, tapping various franchises such as The Lord of the Rings and Assassin’s Creed for unique collections that have broadened the card game. As this current chapter of Magic continues to take shape, MagicCon: Las Vegas offered WotC an opportunity to dive deeper into what the future of the game looks like, outlining several of the sets due to release in 2025.
Amidst the flurry of news and reveals, including a project with Marvel’s Spider-Man series that is said to lead a multi-year collaboration with Marvel, a FINAL FANTASY team-up is coming. The beloved Square Enix franchise is one that, since 1987, has grown into its own empire. Working within Magic, it will be a part of a tentpole booster release next summer with elements present from every main FINAL FANTASY game to date. A combination of artwork from Magic and FINAL FANTASY artists, including new works, will be present across the many cards involved as iconic characters and monsters enter the world of Magic.
Stay tuned for a closer look at the upcoming FINAL FANTASY-themed project that is coming to Magic: The Gathering as it is currently scheduled to release on June 13.
