Nicholas Daley Goes All-Black Everything for 2017 Fall/Winter "Blackwatch" Collection
With splashes of deep purples and dark greens.
Nicholas Daley approached his 2017 fall/winter line in a similar fashion to his spring/summer collection ‘Juteopolis‘ by delving into his Scottish ancestry and presenting a modern rework on tartan textile. The conservative and radical use of tartan lends itself to Daley’s ethos to design; subverting the complex history of materials and celebrating it in a cross-cultural exchange. This season, Nicholas continues to draw upon his admiration for traditional British craft by working with Glenisla, established Scottish kilt-makers who lend themselves in a couple noteworthy pieces in this collection, including a raincoat that applies their kilt design. He has equally utilized Black Watch and Black Isle tartans in addition to using Halley Stevenson’s waxed cotton and Abraham Moon’s Shetland wools as materials for most of the garments featured in the lookbook. See the pieces in person at Dover Street Market London, Ginza and The Bureau, among other stockist locations.
