The Late Ren Hang's Iconic Photos Will Be Displayed at Shanghai Photofairs 2017
Marking the first exhibit since his death last February.
The late photographer Ren Hang is the subject of a major photography exhibit in Shanghai as part of this year’s annual Photofairs event. This marks the first presentation since the iconic artist’s death last February. The showcase will be included in the fair’s new Spotlight section which “explores the critical and commercial standing of key contemporary photographers,” said The Art Newspaper.
A total of 19 photographic works from Hang’s “Beauty without Beards” series will be displayed in the exhibit. The contentious images in the installment were initially shown at the KWM Art Center in Beijing back in February. According to Photofairs, “the images within the exhibition were the last to have been authenticated by the artist and following the artist’s death, they will never be printed again.”
The Photofairs event is slated to launch on September 7 up until the 10 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Head over to Photofairs’ official website to learn more.
