Snapchat may have seen a significant dip in its recent earnings report, but the social media app company is pushing forward with a second generation of Spectacles in the works, apparently. The updated video-recording glasses will supposedly feature augmented reality and other “quite different” details that are tightly under wraps.
One telling hint is that Snapchat filed a patent application for AR glasses in November 2015, which shows plans to use dual-glass arrangement to sense a user’s location to project digital content around said user. Additionally, the Snapchat app has already unveiled an AR feature called World Lenses in April, which would support the rumored AR glasses.
The first gen Spectacles saw less-than-impressive sales of only 60,000 pairs in 2017, approximately. On the other hand, Snap recently brought its Spectacles to Europe. Share your thoughts below.
