Known as one of the most prolific and successful cars of the DTM — short for Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters — the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has always been up there with the best of the best when it comes to racing. The German automobile manufacturer has always dominated the European racing scene, collecting 84 wins in 156 races, as well as 10 driver’s championships and 13 constructor’s championships from competitions dating all the way back to the 1930s. Mercedes-Benz were always ahead of the times when it came to racing, and a new video put out by Mercedes-AMG showcases that their cars from back in the day are just as good as what they have now.
With the help of racing drivers Karl Wendlinger and Maro Engel, the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II, which is known for its DTM performances from 1990-1993, was put up against a Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM, one of the brand’s highest-end racing cars. In the video, the drivers test different measures of performance to show how much technology in racing cars has come in the past 25 years.
