Hermès 2018 Spring/Summer Collection Was a Burgundy Sports Luxury Dream
Clean, understated sophistication.

Always one to bring the best of understated elegance, Hermès showed its Spring/Summer 2018 menswear collection at Paris Fashion Week with an expectedly immaculate array of clean designs and leather goods. This season, artistic director Véronique Nichanian elevated sports-luxury to a whole new level, presenting designs of minimalist grandeur with a sophisticated color palette.
Sportswear-inspired garments — such as track pants, zip-up hoodies and racing jackets — were deconstructed to clean tonal panels and streamlined with thin, white threading and zipper accents. Silhouettes were sublimely tailored with balanced proportions that saw slightly loose-fit pants and fitted tops. A luxuriously subdued color palette of burgundy, tan, gray, navy and black was perked up by visits of lime green, turquoise, poppy red and baby blue, while motifs such as the baseball stitch leather bags, the glossy patent material and the chain link graphic (perhaps a nod to popular culture, referencing Drake‘s famous “Hermès link” line) created a cohesive but refreshingly ungimmicky theme.
