FC Bayern Munich & adidas Revive an Old Fan Favorite
Bayern celebrates the 20th anniversary of its beloved navy kit.

adidas has unveiled the latest away kit for the dominant Bundesliga champion, FC Bayern Munich. The kit pays homage to the club’s 1997 championship squad, which was the first to switch from full-on red kits to navy blue. adidas designed those kits two decades ago and has updated the club’s retro-inspired jerseys by infusing its latest technology to ensure maximum breathability. It appears Bayern Munich has opted to go with nostalgic designs this season when they’re on the road and at home as their home kits, which were revealed last month, were inspired by their teams in the ’70s.
Bayern’s 2017/18 away kits include T-Mobile’s logo across the red stipe on the chest; in 1997, German automaker Opel sponsored the team. Other subtle differences include a less decorative V-neck collar, a slimmer red stripe on the trim of the top and shorts, plus four golden stars around the crest on the left chest. FC Bayern Munich’s away kits are available via adidas.com and global retailers now.
