adidas Gains Ground on Nike and Evens out With Jordan Brand for Market Share Position
The Three Stripes brand is well on its way to claiming the top spot.
Very likely coming as a surprise to absolutely no one, adidas continues on its upward trajectory of claiming its place as the most profitable footwear brand in the market — steadily gaining ground on current leader Nike, while staring Jordan Brand dead in the eye as both stand on almost equal footing. Since May of last year, industry stats report as such — Nike claims 35.9 percent of market share, while Jordan Brand stands at 11.8 percent, closely followed by adidas at 11.3 percent. While Nike and Jordan Brand continue to impact the performance wear market, the Three Stripes brand have closed the gap by renewing its focus towards the lifestyle arena. Aside from pairing alongside some of high fashion’s and streetwear’s biggest names, including mastermind, BAPE and White Mountaineering, many believe it was the introduction and explosion of the BOOST catalog that sparked the remarkable comeback. With no telltale signs of slowing down, adidas looks to charge ahead in its quest to lead the pack.
