Uniqlo Unveils Its Winning Nintendo-Inspired UT Grand Prix 2017 Designs
Featuring nods to ‘Mario,’ ‘Zelda’ and more.
This year’s UT Grand Prix contest from Uniqlo got a whopping 16,000 entries — thanks in large part to the collaborative partner for 2017, Nintendo — and now the Japanese fast fashion giant has unveiled the cream of the crop. Just 25 entries ultimately made the cut as fans from across the globe designed tees inspired by Nintendo favorites like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Kirby, Splatoon and Pokémon. Ultimately, Japan’s Takashi Kawazoe took home the grand prize, which not only sees his Mario-themed design as the hallmark of the collection, but also saw him receive the likes of $10,000 USD and a Nintendo Switch console signed by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto himself.
The Nintendo x Uniqlo UT Grand Prix 2017 collection drops May 19 with prices set at $9.90 USD for kids and $14.90 USD for men’s and women’s tees.
