Subaru's BRZ STI Concept From 2015 Could Become a Reality
Fans, your prayers may be answered soon.

Back in 2015, Subaru bought a BRZ STI concept (pictured above) to the New York International Auto Show that had everyone in the audience both media and public alike clamoring for a road-ready factory version. A Japanese exclusive BRZ tS by STI was released with suspension and handling upgrades but nothing worthy of the full STI badge has been seen until now. Autoblog caught a glimpse of a black BRZ with STI badging covered up by tape in Michigan with a noticeably large wing on it, seen here.
While there wasn’t any evidence of added power in terms of a turbocharger or supercharger, aesthetically the BRZ has taken on a STI lip spoiler, side skirts, rear bumper extensions and Brembo brakes. For those who don’t know the difference between a regular Subaru model and a STI version, the STI stands for Subaru Technica International and promotes the company’s performance heritage, most notably in rally racing. The Subaru Impreza WRX is the signature vehicle to receive STI kitting and trim and sports a beefed up motor, rims, seats, steering wheel, brakes, slip differential and transmission. Fans have long awaited the same treatment for the BRZ since seeing the concept.
Whether you’re a fan or not, the potential release of a BRZ STI also opens up a slim chance for the Toyota/Scion FR-S version to receive a TRD (Toyota Racing Development) makeover. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
