First Images Emerge of Paris's Groundbreaking Pont de Bondy Bridge
Making a landmark out of a train station.

As part of the massive revamp Paris is giving its rail network, Bjarke Ingels‘ BIG practice and Silvio D’ascia Architecture have unveiled images of their competition-winning plans for a major metro station in the north east of the city. The competition-winning design for the Pont de Bondy station may not be ready until close to 2030 but it looks set to be worth the wait with its spiral form, terracotta cladding and skylights that bring natural light right down to the deepest platform. According to architecture firm BIG, the station is ”conceived as both bridge and tunnel wrapped around a giant atrium, connecting the riverbank to the train landing.”
