Watch Dries Van Noten Work His Magic in New Documentary Trailer
See how the respected designer creates his collections.
For many in the industry, Dries Van Noten is looked at as the designer’s designer. A member of the original “Antwerp Six,” Van Noten quickly carved out a lane for himself as one today’s most prolific creatives, often mixing romance with the subversive and highlighting his ingenuity through precise construction techniques.
It was initially announced late last year that there would be a documentary based on Dries Van Noten. A new trailer reveals this to be true and the synopsis to accompany the film reads:
For the first time fashion designer Dries Van Noten allows a filmmaker to accompany him in his creative process and rich home life. For an entire year Reiner Holzemer documented the precise steps that Dries takes to conceive of four collections, the rich fabrics, embroidery and prints exclusive to his designs. As well as the emblematic fashion shows that bring his collections to the world and have become cult “must sees” at the Parisian Fashion week.
This film offers an insight into the life, mind and creative heart of a Master Fashion Designer who, for more than 25 years, has remained independent in a landscape of fashion consolidation and globalization.
It will be exciting to see what this movie brings to the table as many other documentaries about fashion creatives such as Raf Simons, Ralph Lauren, and even Yohji Yamamoto were able to showcase masterfully their ambitious visions.
