Japan's New Luxury Train Offers Tatami-Style Suites & Panoramic Views
Cruise in style.

Anyone visiting Japan should definitely book a trip on the East Japan Railway Company’s new Shiki-shima train. The train began its maiden journey this past May and tickets are already sold out until March 2018.
What’s all the rave about? Well, the train boasts a champagne-gold paint job, futuristic design cues, tatami-style suites and other luxurious amenities. More precisely, passengers can relax in a five-star lounge, take in Japan’s gorgeous natural surroundings in its observatory cars packed with panoramic windows and order fine cuisine prepared by a Michelin-starred chef onboard.
The most expensive suite on the train will set you back approximately $8,645 USD per person. Tour the Shiki-shima train above in the gallery, watch the video below and head over to the East Japan Railway Company’s official website to learn more.
