Daniel Day-Lewis Stars as Reynolds Woodcock in His Last Feature Film 'Phantom Thread'
Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
Focus Features has unveiled the trailer for Daniel Day-Lewis‘s Phantom Thread, where he will be playing renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock in post-war London in the 1950’s. Bachelor Woodcock and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites and debutantes with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock. Reynolds meets a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover.
Daniel Day-Lewis declared earlier this year that Phantom Thread would be his last feature film. Day-Lewis has won three Academy Awards for Best Actor for his performances in My Left Foot in 1989, There Will Be Blood in 2007, and Lincoln in 2012. He’s the only male actor to have earned three wins in that category, and partnering once again with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson, perhaps Day-Lewis can secure a fourth win. The music will be composed by longtime Anderson collaborator and Radiohead member Jonny Greenwood. Written and directed by Anderson, Phantom Thread is set to open Christmas Day, December 25, 2017.
