Amazon MGM Studios and Orion Pictures have officially unveiled the first trailer for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. Directed and written by Bassam Tariq, the dramatic action thriller stars two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in a gritty tale of faith, grief, and responsibility.
Derived from an Islamic saying about the care and love owed to mothers, the film follows Latif (Ali), an assassin secretly navigating life as a single father following the death of his wife. According to the official logline, the plot escalates when Latif is unexpectedly drawn into a hit job while searching for breast milk for his infant daughter alongside his teenage daughter (Adia) and young son. The ensuing conflict places him in direct opposition to influential faith leader Hwan Yoon, played by John Cho.
Backed by a supporting cast that includes Giancarlo Esposito, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, and Jahleel Kamara, the film’s intense action sequences have a unique origin story. Ali and Tariq were previously attached to Marvel’s Blade reboot in 2021 before the project stalled. After dedicating over a year to combat training for the iconic vampire hunter role, Ali was approached by Tariq and successfully channeled those specific physical skills into his performance as Latif.
Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother will have its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto Film Festival this September. The film is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles on September 25, followed by a wider expansion in October.
