Neill Blomkamp & Oats Studios Use Unity to Create 'Adam: The Mirror' Short
Video games collide with the world of films.
Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp is probably best known as the director of the popular 2009 science fiction flick District 9, but his history with short films extends back to 2004 when he put together his very first original movie, Tetra Vaal. Nearly two decades after he began working with the visual arts, Blomkamp decides to go back to where he started for his latest project.
Joining creative forces with Oat Studios, Neill Blomkamp has created a short film using the Unity game engine. Both written and directed by Blomkamp, Adam: The Mirror is the second installment in the “Adam” series, which follows the story of an amnesiac hero who is trying to piece together the puzzles of his existence. Most notably, Adam: The Mirror is being looked to as a showcase and an example of the potential of the Unity game engine. Previously, Blomkamp dove into the world of video games with a live-action short film based on the Halo 3 narrative.
