John Elliott and Blackmeans Unite for Leather Jacket Excellence
Two versions of the fall essential.
American menswear label John Elliott has teamed up with Japanese leather experts Blackmeans on a leather jacket collaboration for Fall/Winter 2017. The capsule features two classic designs — a motorcycle-inspired rider’s jacket and a stadium jacket — that are beefed up with premium quality leather, well-crafted hardware and minute attention to detail.
This is the second chapter of the duo’s collaboration, which debuted last year and poses as an extension of the brands from both ends. “The guys at Blackmeans are authentic and devoted to their craft,” says John Elliott. “They are leather artisans who work with their hands on products they sell in their own shop, and who in their time off listen to punk rock.”
“You’ll find elements from their collection, like a pleated motorcycle detail incorporated into a stadium jacket, and elements in our collection, like gussets applied to a rider’s jacket. We’ve lived in these silhouettes for the last year, and going into our second collaboration paid attention to perfecting small details that matter, so that we could produce even better garments this time around.”
