'Monocle' Magazine Unveils the World's Top 25 Most Liveable Cities

Every year, Monocle Magazine releases its Quality of Life survey within which it names the world’s most liveable cities. Although the list does not drastically change from year to year, the publication endeavors to put the candidates for the enviable title to a steadily increasing and ever-stringent number of metrics, this year introducing criteria based on each city’s nocturnal liveability. Taking into account traditional standards such as transit efficiency and crime rates, to more nuanced figures like the number of independent bookstores and the average closing time of shops and nightclubs, Monocle has named Tokyo as the winner for the second consecutive year for its wealth of world-class food, drink, sport and entertainment options available to its ranks of salarymen after clocking out for the day.
