Step Inside Jacob Ferrato's JBF Customs Studio
Just don’t call him a cobbler.
Jacob Ferrato of JBF Customs fame recently opened the doors of his 2,000-square-foot Cleveland studio loft to Wired for a profile. In it, the 25-year-old sneakerhead explains how he started customizing kicks; initially, Ferrato was drawn to paints, but he eventually drifted toward fine materials and reproductions as his primary hustle before creating his own original silhouettes. In the short video above, Ferrato also explains why he does not consider himself a cobbler: “A cobbler repairs shoes. I’m a cordwainer.” His studio is filled with exotic leathers—python, alligator, sharkskin—and tools of the trade. Ferrato’s custom Birks also make a quick cameo.
