Dior to Appoint Its First Female Creative Director
Who can fill Raf’s shoes?

After Raf Simons’ unexpected departure from Dior womenswear last year, the luxury French fashion house will be bringing in its first-ever female creative director.
Italian designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, who currently heads things over at Valentino as half of the label’s creative director duo with Pier Paolo Piccioli, was hand-picked in 2007 by Valentino Garavani to head his brand. Chiuri’s affinity for dramatic pieces, respect for brand traditions, and eclectic personal style highlight her potential to revive the French fashion house back to its romantic roots. Meanwhile, Kris Van Assche will remain his role of artistic director of Dior Homme.
Dior is reportedly set to announce Chiuri’s new role after its couture show this July. Neither Dior or Valentino reps have officially commented on this story.
