ASICS Looks to Its Japanese Roots for the Latest GEL-Respector
Celebrating a traditional Japanese summer festival.

Kihachiro Onitsuka’s Heritage Label looks to its Japanese roots for inspiration for the next GEL-Respector model in celebration of the East Asian country’s traditional Tanabata Festival, also known as the Star Festival of the lunar calendar.
Sporting a dark green colorway across its premium nubuck and suede upper, this retro re-issue is complemented with a yellow heel counter accent and creamy beige midsole. An insole graphic depicts the festive streamers that are often hung up during Tanabata.
The ASICS GEL-Respector “Tanabata” will be releasing at select retailers like Afew July 7 for €140 EUR (approximately $160 USD).
