This Japanese Restaurant in France Is Decorated With Yakuza Tattoo Motifs
Vincent Coste & Claire Leina transformed with a bold modern interior.

Modern architect Vincent Coste‘s latest project sees the luxury Saint Tropez-based architecture agency design the interior of Restaurant Koi, a Japanese restaurant in Aix-en-Provence in the South of France. Artist Claire Leina created large monochromatic illustrations of koi fish and other Japanese motifs that cover ceiling, walls and floor. The project takes direct inspiration from the famous tattoos of the Yakuza crime syndicate. The interior is paired with metallic red chairs made of engineered steel, pale timber flooring, concrete countertops and a sheltered terrace outdoors.
