Y-3 made a last-minute landing at Paris Fashion Week. The collaborative imprint birthed by adidas and Yohji Yamamoto held its first runway show since Fall/Winter 2019, returning stronger than ever following international lockdowns.

The unexpected runway show was nothing short of a spectacle, held inside Paris’ Salle Pleyel concert hall soon to be occupied by the likes of OFFSET, Jorja Smith, and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Guests were ushered onto elevated grid seats while the main stage was set with three elongated pillars taken from alternative realms.

Eerie microphone feedback marked the start of Y-3’s first runway in five years, keeping us on the edge of our seats with building instrumentals and vibrant light performances. SS25 was split into four parts, the first featuring a plethora of all-black looks guided by Y-3 signatures. It commenced with paneled suiting featuring fringed embroidery on the leg, followed by pocketed utility tracksuits with three stripes accents. Double-brimmed bucket hats accessorized hooded raincoats for everyday wear, while technical gilets and ruffled shirting were packed with functional details.

Yamamoto previewed his forthcoming Japan national football team uniforms on the runway, appearing against the illuminated pillars and interchanging looks with swiping lights. The home and away kits were lined with abstract flames and embellished with central JFA logos, moving into part three with satin bomber jackets and technical uniforms in blurred green, blue, and yellow hues. Y-3’s elevated styling danced with on-pitch references throughout, anticipating Yamamoto’s final bow with abstract patchwork dresses and color-blocked suiting paired with sleek cleats ready for kickoff.
