TEAM WANG design and CLOT have unveiled “TEAM CLOT,” the first collaboration between the labels led by Jackson Wang and Edison Chen. Built on a case-file aesthetic dubbed “CASE NO.852,” the limited collection treats both founders, both brands and every individual piece as entries in a single archive. Its guiding concept, “ON MY WAY,” frames the partnership as two creative journeys that began in Hong Kong, split across different eras and disciplines, and have now converged.
The design backbone of the collection borrows from old dossiers and personnel records, reworking portraits, names, biographical details, file numbers and traceability data into a graphic system of its own. At its center sits the number 852, Hong Kong’s international calling code, which functions as a master ID connecting the two founders, the two labels and each product. The effect is a capsule where every garment and object reads like a logged record, catalogued under one shared file.
That approach is most literal on the portrait T-shirts, which carry black-and-white images of Wang and Chen alongside their names, personal details and CASE NO.852 identification codes. Rather than straightforward fan merch, the tees present each founder as a documented subject, matching the rest of the archival language running through the line.
The Logo T-shirts extend the same system with archive numbering, the 852 marker, eyelet hardware and a strict black-and-white palette. They also pull design cues from two existing TEAM WANG design series, “SPARKLES” and “Invisible Man,” folding TWD’s own back catalog into the record. The name itself plays on cohesion and the sense of being on the same squad, a nod to how the partnership bridges the cultural backgrounds of both camps. Those details carry over to the Tang-style jacket, portrait masks and mugs, pushing the capsule beyond apparel into lifestyle goods, all released in limited quantities.
The portrait masks double as the centerpiece of the “ON MY WAY” campaign, which casts skaters, dancers, DJs, photographers, designers and young entrepreneurs as its faces. Slipping on a mask of Wang or Chen lets each participant briefly adopt the restless, searching mindset both founders had early in their careers; taking it off returns them to their own unfinished chapters, whether a career pivot, an ongoing creative project or a period of uncertainty. The concept leans into the idea that growth rarely follows a straight line, and that nobody has every answer worked out.
Before the official reveal, Wang and Chen opened the concept up to the public through an interactive online campaign tied to Chen’s return to Hong Kong, unlocking the collection once collective support hit 100%. The pairing itself reflects two brands at different stages. CLOT, which Chen founded in 2003, has spent more than two decades helping put Chinese streetwear on the global map through collaborations with names including adidas, Nike, Supreme, sacai and fragment design. Shanghai-based TEAM WANG design, co-founded by Wang and CEO Henry Cheung, represents a newer generation still expanding its aesthetic and international reach, giving “TEAM CLOT” the feel of a meeting point between an established institution and a label in motion.
