New Balance's Illustrious 1300JP Is Finally Back
Known for releasing only once every five years, the premium model will celebrate its 40th anniversary by returning to shelves next month.

New Balance brought forth the 1300 sneaker as one of its most premium offerings in 1985. It has since maintained this status, while also becoming one of the brand’s rarest models, dropping only once every five years. Believe it or not, it has now been five years since it last released and the brand’s MADE in USA division is gearing up for it to return next month as part of its annual “Grey Days” celebration.
As is tradition, premium craftmanship sees a mesh upper accompanied by nubuck overlays, offering a calm combination of blue and brown. Full-length ENCAP midsole cushioning is hidden behind the white exterior while a black outsole tread backs each step. A white leather lining complements the heel tab and tongue, the latter of which hosts a woven “1300” tongue label. Each pair is then rounded out by special edition packaging that pays homage to the original 1985 shoe box design.
The New Balance MADE in USA 1300JP will be up for raffle on HBX from May 23, 9 p.m. HKT to May 26, 9 a.m. HKT. Winners will be announced from May 26 to May 27. The shoe will drop on May 29 via select storefronts worldwide at a starting price of $330 USD.
