Legendary dream team NITRO MICROPHONE UNDERGROUND—a driving force in the Japanese hip-hop scene—has finally dropped their highly anticipated new track, “Eclipse.” An official music video was released alongside the single.
Production comes courtesy of crew mastermind MACKA-CHIN, who continues to carve out his own lane as a producer and DJ. The MCs trade verses with effortless fluidity over a solid, eerie, one-loop track infused with heavy dub techniques. For the mix, the group tapped master engineer D.O.I., a longtime pillar of the Nitro sound.
The visuals are equally striking. Creative direction for the cover art and music video was spearheaded by Nitro MC GORE-TEX, the creative force behind the apparel brand raidback®︎fabric. Co-directed with filmmaker Hirotaka Shimizu, the video delivers a smoky, atmospheric aesthetic, blending ominously flickering lights in the pitch black with the commanding presence of each member.
To mark the release, MACKA-CHIN shared the following message on Instagram:
“It’s been a minute, but I made a track for NITRO! The instrumental’s theme is purely dope. Heavy dub on an insane one-loop. Honestly, it’s just the sound we’re vibing with right now (my aging eyes are blinding me to whatever the rest of the world is doing). By the way, the MV was directed by Tora (GORE-TEX) alongside Nitro’s 37th assassin, Shimizu. I’d be beyond thrilled if there are fans out there who’ve been waiting for a track dripping with this kind of underground flavor. What do you guys think?”
