JJJJound and PUMA are letting more people in on the Mostro “Black/White,” the grayscale edition of their collaboration that had, until now, lived as a friends and family exclusive. The Montreal studio’s third crack at the Mostro filters PUMA’s boldly styled silhouette through the pared-back, materials-first language JJJJound is known for, and it is finally heading toward public hands by way of a PORTER Omotesando raffle.
The pair arrives as the follow-up to JJJJound‘s earlier navy and brown Mostro colorways, having first been teased as a friends and family make-up before resurfacing here in grayscale. As ever with JJJJound, the changes are deliberate and quiet: suede treatments dress the upper, a leather lining adds a premium hand, and JJJJound detailing on the insoles supplies the signature. Beyond those touches, the shoe stays close to the standard Mostro, the kind of restrained reworking that rewards a second look rather than shouting for attention. The bigger development is access. What began behind closed doors is now moving toward a public release, at least within Japan, through the ongoing PORTER raffle.
