- Ruffalo remains open to future MCU appearances despite his current absence
Mark Ruffalo has provided a definitive answer regarding the Hulk’s status in the MCU, confirming that he will not appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. While Ruffalo has been the face of Bruce Banner since 2012, his absence from the next ensemble epic comes as a surprise to fans, especially as core veterans Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. prepare for their returns to the franchise.
Speaking with Empire, Ruffalo addressed the Hulk’s exclusion from Doomsday while remaining optimistic about the character’s future. “As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk. It’s given me so many gifts. You know, I probably wouldn’t be in Crime 101 if it wasn’t for The Avengers,” he noted, adding that his success with the franchise paved the way for other projects. Though the Hulk is currently missing from the lineup, the actor’s comments suggest he is far from finished with the role, expressing a clear openness to return for Avengers: Secret Wars or subsequent chapters.
While the Hulk may sit out the battle against Doctor Doom, fans will still see him in the MCU in 2026. Ruffalo is confirmed to star alongside Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is expected to hit theaters on July 31.
