Rihanna has released her newest track “Friend Of Mine,” her first song in three years that’s set to appear on the official soundtrack for the upcoming Smurfs movie.
Clocking in at approximately three-and-a-half minutes, the track features production from Jon Bellion, f a l l e n and Pete Nappi. “Friend Of Mine” hears Rih’s filtered and layered vocals over a pumping sonic backdrop, offering an ideal inclusion to a summer playlist.
The Smurfs movie stars Rihanna as Smurfette, as well as Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell and John Goodman. The logline reads, “When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.”
