Apple has officially launched CarPlay Ultra, its next-generation in-car experience, beginning with new Aston Martin vehicle orders in the U.S. and Canada. Designed to deliver a seamless blend of iPhone functionality and in-vehicle control, CarPlay Ultra integrates across all of a car’s displays — from the infotainment screen to the instrument cluster — for a fully immersive and customizable driving experience.
CarPlay Ultra goes far beyond traditional CarPlay, offering real-time information like speed, tire pressure and ADAS features directly in the gauge cluster. Drivers can control vehicle systems such as climate and audio using touch, physical buttons, or Siri. Widgets powered by iPhone adapt perfectly to the car’s screen, offering glanceable information.
Aston Martin is the first automaker to debut CarPlay Ultra, with CEO Adrian Hallmark calling it a “clear example” of the brand’s commitment to premium, high-performance user experiences. The system reflects the distinct design language of each manufacturer and allows owners to further personalize themes, colors and wallpapers.
CarPlay Ultra is compatible with iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or above. While it’s currently available in Aston Martin’s U.S. and Canadian lineup, global rollout will follow within the next year. Hyundai, Kia and Genesis have also committed to supporting the platform.
