Miu Miu FW25 Isn't Done Playing Dress Up Quite Yet
Miuccia Prada delighted in the practice of teetering towards adulthood.

What if a brand was built for the little sister that loves to steal your clothes? That’s how Miu Miu’s cheery and optimistic demeanor often feels closing out the long and arduous fashion month. In comparison to the sturdier, academic older sibling, Prada, which shows earlier on the schedule in Milan, Miu Miu delights in reveling in collective youth for just a moment longer.
Framed by a canary yellow hall, the Fall/Winter 2025 runway was a rainbow parade of topsy-turvy looks. Like a teen preening for adulthood, juvenile silhouettes were upgraded to formally pleated track pants, woolen skirt suits, or structured bolero. However, borrowing someone else’s fur can’t always hide the awkwardly obvious aspects of youth.
Where the structure was sharpened, it was also softened by a pink madras print. Quarter-zip pullovers were slit asymmetrically as if pulled on in a rush, and floral sundresses fell off the shoulders, the borrowed garment being one size too big. Much of the hair felt hastily pinned up as if done referencing a 1960s catalog with not enough bobby pins and too few years to get the hang of it.
If Prada felt like turning 35 and settling down, Miu Miu had the false dichotomy one feels when you turn 27 (and get kicked off your parent’s health insurance), but it tragically feels as if it might as well be 60. By doing so, Miuccia speaks to a spectrum of women, women who are rapt with attention at every show, picking which age they want to be every day.
