‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Sets Biggest Opening Weekend of 2025 So Far

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World has logged the biggest opening weekend of early 2025 yet.
Variety reports that the latest entry in the MCU earned $40 million USD across Friday and preview screenings from a total of 4,105 locations, keeping it on track with its $90 million USD estimates during its four-day opening until Presidents Day. Production cost the studio a whopping $180 million USD, and it remains to be seen whether Brave New World will be able to breakeven in the midst of its negative reviews.
The Julius Onah-directed film sees Anthony Mackie replace Chris Evans as Captain America, and also stars Harrison Ford as President “Thunderbolt” Ross alongside Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson and Giancarlo Esposito.
