French basketball player Alexandre Sarr doesn’t only impress on the court. His style is unmatched, constantly amazing with top-tier tunnel fits dipped in luxury. While continuing to score for the Washington Wizards, Sarr is taking his fashion game to the next level. The athlete is partnering with Versace as their latest brand ambassador, becoming a match made in fashion heaven and stepping out for the 2025 NBA All-Star Rising Stars Game in full Versace last night.

“It’s such an empowering brand, and it’s an honor to be a part of the Versace community. I felt so fortunate to get to wear Versace on draft night. That’s a night that, as a basketball player, you dream about your whole life, and it was a dream to get to experience it in Atelier Versace,” says Sarr.

For his ambassador debut, Sarr stars in Versace’s latest eyewear campaign, “Life Is Better In Biggies.” Inspired by the Notorious B.I.G., the bold lenses reflect his contributions to hip-hop style with a modern twist. Launching in four new styles, the glasses are emblazoned with Versace’s signature Medusa logo, bringing a touch of gold to your everyday.

We sat down with Alexandre Sarr to learn more about his work with Versace, his lengthy history with the Italian brand, and his current fashion mentality.

Hypebeast: How did your partnership with Versace come about?

Alexandre Sarr: The partnership with Versace came about through a combination of mutual admiration and opportunity. Versace has always embodied style and luxury, perfectly aligning with the image I want to project both on and off the court. Through WME Fashion’s relationship with Versace, the opportunity was brought to my management team at WME. After some discussions, we quickly realized it was a perfect fit. It’s such an empowering brand and it’s an honor to be a part of the Versace community. I felt so fortunate to get to wear Versace on draft night. That’s a night that as a basketball player you dream about your whole life, and it was a dream to get to experience it in Atelier Versace. This collaboration has been fantastic since day one, and I’m excited about the future projects we have lined up.

There was nothing bigger than Versace in the Biggie era, but what does the brand mean to you as someone born in the 2000s?

For me, Versace represents a blend of classic luxury and modern flair. Growing up in the 2000s, I’ve seen how the brand evolved and stayed relevant in pop culture. It’s not just about the clothes; it’s about the confidence and boldness that comes with wearing Versace. Plus, it has a rich history that connects to music and art, which makes it even cooler. The Versace Biggie campaign is a great example of that, and it was iconic! It feels really special to be a part of the Versace community and its long legacy.

How important is getting your fit right ahead of a game?

Getting my fit right ahead of a game is super important. It’s all about feeling confident and ready to dominate. When you look good, you feel good, and that translates to better performance on the court. Plus, it’s a chance to express my personal style and make a statement before the game even starts.

Is there a recent fashion trend that’s been a big no for you?

I like it all and they have it all. From shades to suits to sneakers and beyond. Lately, I’ve especially loved what they’ve been doing with sneakers. The Versace Mercury has a really futuristic design.

What’s your favorite Biggie verse?

If I had to pick, I’d say Biggie’s verse in “Juicy” is a classic. The way he talks about his journey and success is just legendary.

If you weren’t a pro baller, what do you think you’d be doing?

If I weren’t a pro baller, I’d probably be doing something creative, like design or maybe something around sports. I love expressing myself through style.

What are you currently listening to?

I like all types of music but the artists I’m currently listening to most are Babyface, Future and Gunna.

What can we expect from Alex Sarr in the next few years?

I’m going to do everything I can and continue to put in work to help my team. Every day I’m trying to keep improving myself so that I can contribute to my city on and off the court.

What’s one piece of advice that you try to live by?

To control what you can control. What I know is that I can control the work that I put in, and that drives me.
