Update: It’s been over half a year since we first previewed a special “Statue of Liberty”-themed take on the Nike Kobe 6 Protro made in collaboration with New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson. Now, the pair has been officially revealed leading up to its expected launch next week. The oxidized copper green of the statue has been recreated with a “Hyper Turquoise” hue that combines with a “Metallic Copper” for a fitting color scheme. This new eye-catching rendition of the beloved basketball shoe is currently anticipated to drop on December 11 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $190 USD.
Original Story: Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks are closer to an NBA Championship this season than the franchise has been since the beginning of the century. However, they currently face a 2-1 deficit to the Indiana Pacers, who will host the Knicks tonight and attempt to preserve home court advantage. Not only has Brunson been a key factor for the Knicks this series, he’s also made the most of the limelight by revealing his own Nike Kobe collaboration.
A Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Statue of Liberty” was worn by Brunson during game two against the Pacers and is scheduled to be releasing later this year. The pair features a bright blue that nods to the statue’s oxidized copper finish while “Metallic Copper” detailing at the branding and heel cage nods to its flame. Brunson joins Caitlin Clark in releasing his own Nike Kobe sneaker this year, offering fans a chance to get their hands on a pair that would typically remain a player exclusive.
