Awake NY Opens 'Silent Echoes' by Leyla Fischer
Including a limited t-shirt collaboration featuring original artwork.
Awake NY is kicking off its Fall/Winter 2025 season with Silent Echoes, a new installation by artist Leyla Fischer. The show opens October 18, from 6 to 8PM ET, at Awake’s Orchard Street flagship, which will transform into a small, meditative gallery space for the occasion.
At the heart of Silent Echoes are Fischer’s signature dog figures, painted in thick layers of oil that imbue instinct and reflection. The canvases, titled “Guardians of Valor,” “Hidden Identity,” “Masters of Angels,” “Downfall,” “Yer Blues” and “She Loves You” will be displayed as well each carrying a quiet tension.
Fischer’s work has long explored questions of faith, identity, and emotion, but rarely through direct storytelling. Instead, her paintings feel like moments of pause, balancing between strength and vulnerability.
To mark the occasion, Awake NY and Fischer also teamed up on a limited-edition T-shirt featuring the artist’s portrait and motifs from the series. In case you missed it, check out our Studio Visits spotlight on Leyla Fischer.
