Update: Technical apparel brand UNAFFECTED is back for another Fall/Winter collaboration with ASICS, this time teaming up to equip the GEL-KAYANO 20 with three outdoor-ready colorways. Spotted last month, the official names of the looks are “Black Obsidian,” “White Glacier” and “Umber Mud,” with all three sporting subtle co-branding and a reinforced mudguard, as described in our initial breakdown below. Release has been announced to begin on October 31 via select FR8IGHT storefronts before a wider drop takes place on November 1 via FR8IGHT, ASICS and MUSINSA. From there, a global launch via select retailers such as HBX is anticipated to take place in the weeks to follow.

Original Story: South Korean label UNAFFECTED joined forces with ASICS at the end of 2023 to present the GEL-KAYANO 14 in three colorways that all featured a special cord lacing system. Now, as UNAFFECTED continues to present items from its Fall/Winter 2024 collection titled “HEXAGONAL,” the duo are back with another footwear collaboration.
This time around, the two have looked to the new GEL-KAYANO 20, which has been the subject of many collaborative projects this year, featuring the likes of KENZO, Bodega and Doublet. With UNAFFECTED, three colorways of the sneaker see it channel looks of red, cream and black while revisiting the cord lacing system that the two previously applied to the GEL-KAYANO 14. Typical ASICS branding is joined by UNAFFECTED hits at the lateral heel and the left shoe’s sockliner while the shoe sees a special mudguard utilized as an overlay, adding depth to the sneaker’s layered build.
At the time of writing, neither UNAFFECTED nor ASICS have disclosed when their collaboration involving the GEL-KAYANO 20 will be releasing. Stay tuned for updates, including official imagery of the kicks, as Le.Syndrome notes that the collaboration is set to debut sometime around the start of November, arriving on shelves via UNAFFECTED, ASICS and select retailers such as HBX.
