Watch the Action-Packed Teaser for ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ Season 2
Based on the ’90s manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki.
More battles are set to ensue in the second season of Rurouni Kenshin. Set to premiere in October, the run is officially called Rurouni Kenshin Meiji Kenkaku Romantan: Kyoto Dōran (Kyoto Upheaval).
The first season was directed by Hideyo Yamamoto, and a new director, Yuki Komada, was appointed to helm the anime‘s second season. Composer Hideyuki Kurata, known for his work on Made in Abyss, led the musical effort.
Rurouni Kenshin is based on the manga of the same name by Nobuhiro Watsuki, which originally ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump during the ‘90s. The manga was first adapted into an anime in 1996 before Liden Films offered a fresh take on the series last year.
Set in 1878 during Japan’s Meiji era, Himura Kenshin is a former assassin turned rōnin, a type of wandering samurai. Kenshin, however, has vowed to uphold order without ever taking another human life.
