Mercedes-AMG Unleashes Exclusive GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport
A homage to the automaker’s 130 years of motorsport history, limited to just 13 examples.
In an homage to 130 years of motorsport, Mercedes-AMG has introduced the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport during this year’s Monterey Car Week. Limited to just 13 units, this special edition marks the final iteration of the AMG GT3 model to feature the iconic naturally aspirated 6.3L V8 engine. The car, celebrating a century-plus of racing heritage, marries cutting-edge motorsport technology with classic design cues inspired by Mercedes-Benz’s racing legends from the 1950s.
The GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport is a performance powerhouse, boasting 671 hp, making it the most potent GT3 ever produced in Affalterbach. Unshackled by homologation restrictions, this race-ready beast features advanced aerodynamics, including a new Drag Reduction System (DRS) inspired by Formula 1. This system, combined with an enhanced aero package, allows the car to exceed 196 mph while maintaining optimal downforce and stability.
Notably, the car’s design pays tribute to Mercedes-Benz’s iconic 300 SL W 194, with its exclusive silver paint and blue accents harking back to the legendary Silver Arrows. Inside, the blend of modern motorsport technology and traditional elements continues, with advanced features like the Bosch DDU 10 cockpit display and bespoke interior touches reminiscent of the 1955 SLR 300.
A two-year development journey culminated in the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport setting a new lap record at Australia’s Mount Panorama Circuit, reinforcing its status as a track-ready marvel. Each of the 13 exclusive units comes with a comprehensive delivery package, including personalized racing gear and a 1:8 scale model of the car.
Priced at €1,030,000 EUR or $1,145,257 USD, the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport stands as a collector’s masterpiece, encapsulating over a century of Mercedes-AMG’s racing pedigree and engineering prowess.
