The Swiss brand’s new Asteria, Rhea and Theia speakers look like something out of a Stanley Kubrick movie.

Goldmund is aiming to “redefine what’s possible for wireless speakers” with its newly introduced Asteria, Rhea and Theia, a trio of Greek mythology-inspired speakers that are as much pieces of art as they are listening devices. Known for its luxury audio credentials, the Swiss company hopes its new speakers will take wireless audio into new dimensions in terms of their sound and design (and, indeed, price). The otherworldly looking loudspeakers look like they could be something out of a Stanley Kubrick movie – although, that said, they’d cost you a pretty penny more than a movie ticket as the cheapest of the set starts at $95,000 USD.

Each speaker has been expertly constructed from a silvery grey aluminum alloy and paired with perfectly matching grilles. Aluminum is found throughout, with both the vertical and edge enclosure panels made from a carefully micro-blasted aluminum, contrasting with the speaker’s horizontal intern panels have been built with brushed aluminum. The material mix makes for a subtle contrast and the attention to detail adds to the speakers’ “art piece” credentials.

Like other Goldmund speakers, the Asteria, Rhea and Theia all include the brand’s proprietary ‘Proteus LS’ technology, software built with an advanced mathematical model that measures everything from enclosure shape to diffraction at box edges to deliver the most efficient and impactful sound profile. Additionally, each of the new speakers is equipped with two more of the brand’s proprietary technologies, one of which is known as ‘Leonardo’ and serves the purpose of correcting phase distortion to further ensure the best sound for its user, whilst another, ‘Mechanical Grounding’, helps to get rids of vibrations to achieve the lowest possible resonance. All in all, the trio of new speakers have been considered from the inside out, with their looks serving aesthetics as well as technical sound prowess.

The cheapest of the set (if you can call it that), the Asteria, is powered by a 600-watt Telos amplifier and features a frequency response range of 34.5 Hz to 25 kHz. In the middle, the Rhea sees a small increase in power up to 650-watts and has a frequency response range of 26.5 Hz to 25 kHz. The Theia, “the pinnacle of this triumvirate” according to the brand, features a huge 875-watts of amplification, with a wider frequency response range of 21 HZ to 25 kHz.

In terms of pricing, the Asteria will set you back £89,000 GBP / $95,000 USD; the Rhea £137,000 GBP / $150,000 USD; while the Theia comes in at a cool £275,000 GBP / $300,000 USD. The speakers are priced per pair and each come housed in a custom-built flight case for protection. And, if you needed any further convincing, they’re active speakers meaning you don’t need to worry about spending any extra money on an amp to power them.
