As the week in music comes to a close, Hypebeast has rounded up the best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.

This week’s lineup is led by Ariana Grande and BROCKHAMPTON‘s Matt Champion with BLACKPINK‘s Jennie, who released the album eternal sunshine and the collaborative single “Slow Motion,” respectively. The followup to 2020’s positions features a sole guest appearance from Grande’s grandmother, affectionately known as Nonna, on the closing track “ordinary things,” and is co-produced in its entirety by the artist herself.

HOMESHAKE - CD Wallet

Peter Sagar’s HOMESHAKE delivers his sixth studio album, CD Wallet. The nine-track record was mostly written and recorded in 2023 at the artist’s home studio in Toronto, and was created against the backdrop of his hometown of Edmonton. Sagar reveals that the record was “made in a heavy, straightforward indie rock style to impress my childhood self,” and encompasses the feelings of nostalgia brought upon by one’s introspection.

Kamasi Washington – “Prologue”

Kamasi Washington officially announces his upcoming album Fearless Movement, out May 3, with the single “Prologue.” Dubbing his album a non-literal “dance music” record, the artist explains, “Dance is movement and expression, and in a way it’s the same thing.”

Justice – “Incognito”

French electronic duo Justice continues their Hyperdrama rollout with their latest single, “Incognito.” The pair shares, “Like many songs on this record, it switches from all electronic to all human music abruptly, multiple times within its four minute run. The structure is dictated by what feels good at the moment it happens, without necessarily following any other rule. We had to unlearn everything we thought we knew about song structures, and music in general, when we started working on ‘Hyperdrama’, which was very refreshing.”

Mura Masa – “Still”

Mura Masa delivers his first single of 2024, “Still.” While a full album or project was not announced, the British producer is set to hit the road for a few live performances in the United States and UK between now and August 2024.

Yaya Bey – “sir princess bad bitch”

Yaya Bey continues to prep her upcoming album Ten Fold (dropping May 10) with the new single “sir princess bad bitch.” The cut arrives with an accompanying music video, helmed by Chassidy David and creatively conceived by the artist herself. “sir princess bad bitch” is described as “one of the album’s centerpiece statements,” and embodies “the complexities of Yaya’s identity as a genderqueer person.”
