Zac Posen Named Creative Director at Gap Inc.
It was just a matter of time before the American designer returned.

Since coming onto the fashion scene two decades ago, Zac Posen has been a celebrated womenswear designer – specifically, in the realm of gowns. The designer made headlines in 2019 with the closure announcement of his House of Z label, which left many wondering what’s next for the American designer. Now Posen is officially making his return as he’s been named the new creative director at Gap Inc.
It was only a matter of time before the designer’s return, but the new partnership sees Posen move back into mass-market fashion (having a tenure at Brooks Brothers from 2014 to 2020). With his new role, Posen will lead the creative charge at Gap Inc’s four brands, serving as a partner to Gap Inc. CEO Richard Dickson. A key focus of Posen’s new position is to lead design, marketing and merchandising at Old Navy as its chief creative officer.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Zac Posen, one of America’s most celebrated designers, at the onset of an exciting new chapter for Gap Inc,” said Dickson. “His technical expertise and cultural clarity have consistently evolved American fashion, making him a great fit for the company as we ignite a new culture of creativity across the portfolio and reinvigorate our storied brands.”
At the creative helm of Gap Inc., Posen is positioned to redirect the company’s success – across all brands and RTW categories. Stay tuned for more details about Zac Posen’s new role.
