Apple Vision Pro Users Who Forget Their Password Have To Reset It In-Store
A password can only be reset using the $300 USD Developer Strap.
Apple has some sobering news for current and future owners of its Apple Vision Pro headset: those who forget the password to their device will have to trek to an Apple store to reset it in person.
Despite shelling out $3,500 USD for the futuristic headset, there isn’t any easy fix to getting back in when you can’t remember your password – the password to the device itself, that is, not one’s Apple ID.
Users were taking to the company’s support forum asking how to get into the device when they couldn’t recall their password, to which the Apple representatives told customers they had to bring their device to the store in person to have it manually reset, Bloomberg reported first.
Those who did bring it to the Apple Store reported that the employees onsite addressed the problem by attaching a Developer Strap to the Vision Pro, which connects the headset to a computer via USB-C, and were able to erase it from there.
The Developer Strap is sold separately from the Vision Pro for an additional $300 USD and Apple only sells it to registered Apple Developers. Needless to say, the whole scenario puts Vision Pro owners who aren’t located nearby an Apple store in a tricky situation.
