Dior Names Olympic Skater Aurélien Giraud Its Newest Ambassador
The 26-year-old athlete is going for gold at the Paris Olympics’ skatepark this summer.
Champion skateboarder Aurélien Giraud is the newest face of Dior.
The French fashion house announced on Wednesday that the 26-year-old athlete, who is aiming to secure the gold medal at the upcoming Paris Olympics, will represent the brand at key events and appear in its future promotional imagery. Alongside the news, the Kim Jones-led label released imagery of Giraud wearing the brand’s essential designs, including denim jackets, wool coats and quarter-zip polo shirts.
“Audacious, creative and spontaneous, the multi award-winning world champion — and contender for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 — henceforth embodies the spirit of Dior style, where sportswear, heritage and reinvention converge,” the brand wrote in its announcement.
From Lyon, Giraud is slated to compete at the Paris Olympics on the French national team. He was previously crowned the world champion at the World Skateboarding Tour in 2022, and he placed sixth at the Tokyo Games in 2020, when the sport made its debut at the Olympics.
Giraud is only the latest athlete to join Dior’s roster of ambassadors in the lead-up to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games; the House has already signed surfer Kauli Vaast, gymnast Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos and wheelchair tennis player Pauline Déroulède.
